EN16890 – new filter classification

The directive EN16890 established a new classification system, based on particle matter (PM) and re-named the filters “ePM”.

Because of this new filter classification, the filters in all of our units have been verified and have been changed if deemed necessary.  The new filter classifcation might have an influence on the maximum airflow as communicated in the past. For all of the new product ranges (GLOBAL RX, RX TOP, GLOBAL LP and GLOBAL PX), the selected fresh air bag filters have proven to be above par.  Their classification “ePM1≥70%” is better than the market average. This directive has now been applied on all of our products; final updates of both documentation and software will follow shortly. The new filter classification is of no influence on the price of the units.

ePM1

:

minimum 50% efficiency on 1 micron particles filtering

ePM2,5

:

minimum 50% efficiency on 2,5 micron particles filtering

ePM10

:

minimum 50% efficiency on 10 micron particles filtering

For existing product ranges:

The starter filter kits will be replaced by:

  • Supply air filters

:

ePM1≥60%

  • Extract air filters

:

ePM10≥50%

New product ranges:

  • Supply air filters

:

ePM1≥70%

  • Extract air filters

:

ePM10≥50%

Other modifications:

  • Prefilters will always be of classification “COARSE” (former “G4”)

  • Filter kits will only be available when bought together with the Air Handling Unit.  Filter dimensions are published on the technical datasheet generated by the commercial software.
